Children Playing Together

Afterschool TK-K

At Olive Children, our Afterschool TK–K program offers a warm, structured extension of the school day for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten children. In a nurturing environment, children have time to unwind, connect with friends, and engage in meaningful play after a full day at school.

Our program balances gentle routines with open-ended exploration. Children enjoy hands-on activities, creative projects, storytime, and outdoor play, while building early academic foundations in a developmentally appropriate way. Teachers

provide caring guidance to support social-emotional growth, independence,

and confidence.

Afterschool at Olive Children feels like an extension of a caring home—where children are respected, supported, and encouraged to grow with joy and curiosity.

Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program bridges preschool and kindergarten through meaningful themes and hands-on learning that build curiosity and confidence. Children explore early STEM through simple experiments, building, and guided discovery, with weekly themes integrating math, literacy, science, and creative problem-solving.

We support whole-child growth through Kinder Math Infinity, weekly Chinese/Spanish classes, Music, Art, and Etiquette & Life Skills that nurture independence, communication, and emotional development. Healthy snacks and dinner are provided daily, along with outdoor play to keep learning balanced and joyful.

Reggio Principles

Children are researchers

Preschoolers actively construct theories about how the world works. They test ideas through play, experimentation, and conversation.

Collaboration grows thinking

Learning is social. When children discuss ideas with peers, they compare perspectives and refine their reasoning.

Inquiry drives curriculum

Curriculum emerges from children’s questions and interests rather than predetermined topics. Teachers design investigations that deepen these curiosities.

Documentation makes learning visible

Photos, transcripts of conversations, and saved work samples show the evolution of thought. Documentation allows children, teachers, and families to revisit learning.

100 languages of expression

Children express understanding through drawing, building, dramatic play, movement, and more. Multiple modes of expression allow deeper thinking and creativity.

Teachers are co-learners

Educators investigate alongside children rather than delivering answers. This stance models curiosity, flexibility, and intellectual humility.
