Hands-On Science: Heating Up for the Holidays
Today in Hands-On Science, students learned the science of heat! Thermal energy flows from hot objects to cold objects, and is related to the kinetic energy of the molecules. A special compound with thermochromic properties was used to demonstrate the transfer of heat. Students got to paint their own pictures using heat-sensing paint!
Here is the thermochromic cup used to demonstrate the thermochemical properties of certain pigment molecules that change color when heated.
