“You do have to try, learn, and improve. You do have to put yourself out there and risk failure. But in this new world, you don’t have to go bankrupt if you fail because you can fail small. You can innovate as a hobby. Imagine that: a nation of innovation hobbyists working to make their lives more meaningful and the world a better place. Welcome to the maker revolution.” ― Mark HatchThe Maker Movement Manifesto

$80 | Five Weeks of Preschool Makers

Wednesdays | Fridays @ 10:00-11:00; 11:00-12:00 (Preschoolers)

Saturdays @ 10:00-11:00 (Preschoolers); 11:00-12:00 (Gr K-1)

Learning to be a Maker has never been more fun...

At Olive Children | Little Steamers, we provide a cool place for young children as young as three years old to create, to tinker, and to innovate. Here they can play around with ideas, make things together and mess around with tools, materials and techniques. They will learn to investigate how things work, discover how things are used, and learn new processes and skills.

It is an interest-driven engagement in creative production that connects with science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). It begins with making familiar materials accessible to children and encouraging them to engage with the materials in new ways. Every class is different, and we’re always trying new things! Do something new each time you visit.

Week 1 ( Oct 20) | What's in the Sky?

Children will make telescopes and explore what is in the sky during both day and night.

Week 2 (Oct 27) | Day and Night

Children will use flashlights to explore the difference between day and night.

Week 3 (Nov 3) | Moon Phases

Children will explore and document Moon changes over a period of 1 week.

Week 4 (Nov 10) | Sundials

Using a sundial, the children will explore the Sun as a source of light causing shadows and will learn that the Sun travels, causing shadows to change.

Week 5 (Nov 17) | Ceiling Constellations

Children will investigate stars and constellations, and make their own constellations using flashlights.

Theme: Our Sky

We will explore things in the sky including the Sun, Moon, and stars. The students will form hypotheses, gather observations, and draw  conclusions, make constellations, investigate sundials, experiment with UV light, and discover changes in the Moon.

$100 | Four Weeks of Afterschool Makers
